There is a hidden message that turns this story into a curse. If you haven’t tried to puzzle it out yet, give it a shot, because this one is pretty easy!

The message is, of course, hidden in the first character (Japanese) or word (English) of each line. The awkward line breaks probably give it away more than anything. In Japanese, the hidden message reads ”おまえも今死んだ”, which is almost directly translated into ”you too have just died” in the English version. Of course, this means that the English story itself isn’t a very direct translation, especially with the reduced number of lines, but the gist of the story and the hidden message seem to me to be the more important parts of this particular story.
